Turning 21 in Japan

I was able to celebrate my birthday while studying abroad. While leading up to it I had mixed feelings because I wanted to celebrate with my family and friends back at home, I was also excited to celebrate it with my new friends in Japan. However, my family surprised me with a visit two days before my birthday! On the day of, we started off by going to the new TeamLabs Borderless. I had already gone to TeamLabs Planets when I first got to Japan, but this was a whole new experience. It didn't have a set path to go down so you were able to explore the different rooms at your leisure.

Two of my favorite parts of Borderless was the room where you were able to color your own sea creature and have it projected and swim around the room. Another was the tea room, where flowers would bloom in your cup and if you moved it then it would disburse and make a new one.

After TeamLabs we went to The Flavor Lab to make my own custom perfume. There was a wall of scents where you were able to choose your top three and the person helping you mixes them until you're happy with it. You then get to choose the color of the perfume in the bottle and the color of the cap on the bottle.

Overall it was a really fun birthday! I'm very glad my family was able to come and celebrate with me.
